Keven Fedirko Blog

     Welcome to www.KevenFedirko.com blog :: home

I've been shooting so much cool stuff, but ... there are never enough hours in the day to post it all. On this page, you can now garner a glimpse of what's to come [or rather what you're missing out on]. Galleries are listed below in a blog-esque format. Thumbnails in time will all go to the gallery in question - for sessions that are not yet posted, only a thumbnail will exist - email if you're interested in seeing any shoots not yet online, or arrange a meeting to view material on a beautiful large display the way the gods intended.

The "blog" is back (in smaller pieces) - this is the third quarter of 2008 (June-current)

Last day of fireworks - not sure if the crazy burst of rain that evening hampered the event any - I hid for cover by the Saddledome until everything was over :: shot July 13th., 2008 :: I think the one at the right looks like a jellyfish creature, well that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Plain White T's :: Coca-Cola Stage (Calgary Stampede)

Plain White T's (from Chicago, Illinois) had great lighting, which was nice to shoot - Dave Tirio in particular - the crowd got into body surfing - Tom Higgenson (lead vocals) mentioned that he wouldn't mind just watching that [instead of performing] - hopefully nobody got hurt - the crowd really loved 'em, and there were lots of fans shooting video clips on their cel phones and P&S cameras :: shot July 13th., 2008 :: Dave Tirio (thumbnailed on the left) and various fans (thumbnailed on the right)

Social Code :: Coca-Cola Stage (Calgary Stampede)

Social Code (from Edmonton, AB) had quite a fan base going there, and mentioned [at the end of their set] they wanted to meet/greet everyone of them - which they proceeded to do, and it appeared as if they continued until even after the Plain White T's had played and left the stage (!!!) :: shot July 13th., 2008 :: Travis Nesbitt mugging (thumbnailed on the left) and Morgan "Macchio" Gies on guitar (thumbnailed on the right)

Jester 'N Jeff :: Loose Moose Theatre

Jeff Wroblewsky posed for a few promo shots after the gig :: shot July 10th., 2008 :: Did his "Mentalism" act to a sold out theatre - very impressive abilities, and he's managed to come up with all kinds of card tricks that I have not seen before - not sure if this will work for everyone, but until I post my own gallery here, if you are on facebook, check out this link.

David Wilcox :: Olympic Plaza Stage

The great Fender Tele player (the Canadian version - never heard the American guy yet, but a good friend that I worked with in Montreal ended up buying the Canadian version, and was disappointed - LOL!) put on a tasty show Canada Day (#141) to a completely packed outdoor venue :: shot July 1st., 2008 :: drummer on the left and David Wilcox himself on the right.

The Absent Sound :: The Legion No.1 (upper floor stage)

The Absent Sound (from Winnipeg, Manitoba) were a great band to stumble upon - I went to the Legion #1 with the intent of seeing some other band on the main stage, but jumping the C-Train platform, I heard some great atmospheric music emanating from the building (which turned out to only be coming out of the windows on the upper floor) :: shot June 28th., 2008 at the Sled Island Festival for BeatRoute :: one of the guitarists thumbnailed on the left, Joshua Butcher (keyboards) on the right. One of the few bands that I purchased a disc during the festival.

Mogwai :: Sled Island Festival

Mogwai (from Glasgow, Scotland) were visually not much of a treat, but the crowd could have cared less - after the first song, the rest of the pro photographers also gave up and started to shoot the crowd and their reactions - there were a whole slew of other bands I wanted to get to that nite, so I left after the 3rd track :: shot June 28th., 2008 at the Sled Island Festival for BeatRoute ::

Wire :: Sled Island Festival

Wire (from London, England) seemed to enjoy the evening sun, but somehow I think they would have enjoyed the crowd jammed up against the stage like at the Legion, but alas, that was not to be the case :: shot June 28th., 2008 at the Sled Island Festival for BeatRoute ::

Horatio Sanz :: Kings Of Improv at the Pumphouse Theatre

Horatio Sanz (from NYC) put on his "Kings Of Improv", which included : Brian Huskey, Eddie Pepitone, Jason Mantzoukas, Sean Conroy, Seth Morris and one more guy that I couldn't find a reference to... :: shot June 28th., 2008 at the Sled Island Festival for BeatRoute :: This was pretty hilarious, and fun to shoot - everyone putting on really great facial expressions :: Horatio Sanz (thumbnailed on the left) and Jason Mantzoukas (thumbnailed on the right) started off the session, and then the supporting comedians came out a bit later once they ingested the audience participation segment

Wire :: The Legion No.1

Tegan and Sara :: Sled Island Festival

I was really pumped to finally see Tegan and Sara at the Mewata Stage, but it was so sunny out, which made it a nightmare to shoot (and for them to perform) in the blinding sunshine - they even asked for audience members shades :: shot June 27th., 2008 at the Sled Island Festival for BeatRoute :: thanks for coming back to the place where you started it all ::

Blitzen Trapper :: Broken City

Ghost Bees :: The PumpHouse

I'd missed the Ghost Bees (from Halifax, NS) on their last stint in town, well worth the wait tho :: shot June 26th., 2008 at the Sled Island Festival for BeatRoute :: quite something to see a performance in near total darkness - Sari on her mandolin thumbnailed on the left, and Romy singing w/guitar on the right - a delicious experience! :: met Romy and her violinist at the Blitzen Trapper show later in the evening, and showed them a 'ghost' portrait of the sisters before they went on stage, very cool...

Yo La Tengo :: The PumpHouse

This trio seems to be creating quite a buzz in this town, great sound in the theater, but not much for me to shoot [visually], so I was happy to venture next door to see the Ghost Bees for 7:30 :: shot June 26th., 2008 at the Sled Island Festival for BeatRoute :: guitarist thumbnailed on the left, and the drummer on the right
