This page was put up to arrange a visit for Bishop Grandin's 20th reunion, since nobody had picked up the torch.

The name of the band that played - was Gringo Love :: see shots from their session (yes, there are other people partying in the sequence other than grads...)

Well - thanks to all that showed up [even those that didn't it was great to find you, and hear a bit of what you've been up to over email/phone] - I had a really fabulous time - and thanks to those that wondered where the heck my "camera" was - so I ran out to grab my kit bag, and ended up taking a whole swack to cool shots - the grads dancing, the crowd and the band itself until the wee hours of the morning. Hope everyone there had as much fun as I did.

Lets keep the momentum going, and try to find/contact the rest of the class in anticipation for the 25th (yikes, the year 2011). With that much lead time, we can potentially have a larger turn-out, although I'm very happy with what was arranged in only five weeks (two of which I was out of town for). I only started to hit the white pages, and make cold calls this past week I think - but managed to find many people still around (well, those with unique enough family names that is - but only those that I "knew" their faces 20 years later). Mike will arrange to create a similar registration page for the next event [he told me]. It's been suggested to have a multi-day affair - one [kinda similar to what transpired], and another day that would allow perhaps all the offspring to play-around in a more relaxed atmosphere. The pub was a pretty nice location, until they opened the gates, and then it got v.busy, and loud. I didn't know how the band would end up going over with everyone, but to my surprise, a lot of the women started dancing up a storm right away, so that was all good. The whole joint was literally bouncing. Good times. Even more surprising was Britney Spears, Sandra Bullock and Tim McGrath were on the dance floor [email for what this means if you left early]. :)

I met a woman there [on a stag] that organizes Reunion cruises of all things - sounds like a great idea too / as in it could be a cool vacation for everyone [with or without a family] - i.e., nobody would really have any pressure to attend or be apart of something if they weren't into it - they would just be able to go to a different event. When I check out the site, maybe I'll post a link here for people to mull over.

I went down to the school in the Spring/Summer, but they had zero details for a 20th - 25th yes, but no 20th. If you tell two people, and they tell two people ... it will be great! I made up a small poster, which I brought down to Grandin (Oct 11), feel free to print, link, distribute it where-ever you think it would help.

Date : Saturday Oct 21st, 2006 at the original Ceili's location downtown - 513, 8th Avenue SW, Calgary, AB. [MAP] | googlemaps version (marker is in the top right, should be top left corner) It will be on the second floor, private from 7-9pm, and then people will start to mix in after that (we can stay how-ever long, but it just wont be as private). The band was "Pistol Noon". One complimentary drink upon arrival - no cover charge. Spouses and/or best friends welcome! There is an indoor parking lot across the street [Centennia Parkade - SE corner of 9th av / 5th st - access from 9th and 5th - Sat - 2.00 all evening after 6pm, 0.50 per half hour before 6], and free street parking after 5:30 or 6pm (depends on the street) on most of the streets South of there [5th st / 10th av - free after 6 - same on 11th, etc.] - just be cautious about the parking lot directly N of Ceili's - I checked it today [20.10.2006], and at about 3pm it was 8.00/hr!! Yikes! Excellent, I'm very excited!! Please RSVP, so we can tell the pub how much space to set aside for our clan.

Whew - seems there are 578 grads. The (n/p) in the list below stands for "no picture" - there was a huge selection of no picture people at the end of the grade 12 portraits. Perhaps I could end up making a gallery section after this is all over with new shots if people are into it.

Seems like this classmates.com thing has grown a bit since I stumbled on it in 1993/94, when I was the first person to add Bishop Grandin to the database, actually I think I also had to add "Calgary" as well ... couldn't get a now/then picture to be added [tried a number of times], so I've included them at the very bottom of this page.

Genesis of this reunion:
Went to the Henry Wise Wood High School 20th anniversary reunion (1986) - Sept 16, 2006 at the Metropolitan Grill. Met a few people I would have never conjured up their names in my head, and we had a fantastic visit - plus they remembered me! Friken unbelievable. Some even remembered my knick name - that's pretty good for 26 years back (to Elementary). Wow. Was a very cool event. Hi to Sara, Dawn, Ashley, Gavin and Kendra from my Chinook Park Elementary days - everyone is still looking fantastic. Kudos to you all!

News:
Was in Edmonton Shooting portraits and sports cars for a couple weeks (Sept 23-Oct7), so sorry to all that didn't hear much from me in that time.

Started to go through the white pages, and cold-calling people - found a few, but time ran out : called up to the end - on the last day (21.10.2006) majorly glossing over people tho / please call all you know - as I only called the people I could remember and/or there weren't a whole swack of them [in the book] and/or would actually have something to talk with them about - so I might very well have missed you... It is never too late to hookup!
